‘The Bachelorette’s Jonathon Johnson Shares Update on Jenn Tran Relationship
Forget about Sasha Farber for a second. Do you remember the time when everyone was convinced that Jenn Tran was dating Bachelorette contestant Jonathon Johnson?
Now, the future Bachelor in Paradise star is finally speaking out about what was really going on between them. Fans of the what-could’ve-been relationship between Tran and Johnson are not going to be happy.
Talking to Ben Higgins and Bob Guiney on the Almost Famous podcast, the 27-year-old LA resident revealed that “it was a very platonic friendship.” He candidly admitted that the two never even considered that something more could develop.
“I didn’t want to put any of that pressure on her,” Johnson admitted. “We both understood what we needed to be there for each other for.”
Fans first started to speculate that a relationship might’ve developed when they began to post each other on TikTok in September 2024. “We’re going to make videos together because people love to see it,” he divulged. “It wasn’t anything more than that.”
After that, Johnson posted a sweet message on Instagram to support Jenn ahead of her Dancing with the Stars debut, which really sealed the deal. At the time, he posted, “Jenn, from me, my family, and anyone that has had the absolute privilege of meeting you, you’re an incredible woman and we are SO proud of your journey. I will be cheering you on as you shake it down on DWTS and all the success after.” He also mentioned how happy he was that she was going to be in LA, the place where he lives.
Recently, Tran revealed she’ll be staying in the West Coast city for a little longer as she’s living on “Sasha’s couch.” So, has the friendship between her and Johnson continued to soar? He still has a lot of love for her.
Yet, there’s one thing that he didn’t like about their friendly demeanor — the way other people reacted. “They [the fans] want that love story,” he said. “It didn’t work out with the first two guys, so they’re like “Alright, who’s the next best option.”
That being the conclusion hurt him. “Once I started thinking [about it], that’s kind of shitty.” He continued, “I’m the next best option, I didn’t like to think about.”
While a romance didn’t develop between Tran and Johnson, the former Bachelorette lead did find a connection with her DWTS partner. Tran and Farber have continued to fuel romance rumors. While they have yet to say the words out loud to the public, their actions say otherwise.
