‘Tell Me Lies’ Renewed for Season 3: Everything We Know So Far

Lucy (Grace Van Patten) and Stephen’s (Jackson White) saga entered a new chapter in the final moments of Tell Me Lies Season 2. After the jaw-dropping finale, fans have been curious about the state of Season 3.
Based on Carola Lovering’s novel of the same name, the series left us with so many questions to be answered. Hulu finally answered our prayers by renewing the fan-favorite series. So, what’s next? Swooon is breaking down all the latest details about Season 3.
Will there be a Tell Me Lies Season 3?
Lucy and Stephen’s drama will continue! Hulu announced on December 19 that Tell Me Lies has been renewed for Season 3. Season 2 premiered on September 14, 2024, with the finale airing on October 16.
When will Tell Me Lies Season 3 premiere?
The streaming service didn’t announce a premiere date with the renewal, but Tell Me Lies Season 3 could presumably return as early as late 2025. Hulu renewed the show for a second season in November 2022, but the series was delayed due to the double Hollywood strikes in 2023. This caused a two-year wait between seasons. If the show began filming in early 2025, a later 2025 or early 2026 release date would be possible.
Who will return for Tell Me Lies Season 3?
Grace Van Patten and Jackson White would have to return as Lucy and Stephen. This chaotic college drama revolves around their toxic romance. The rest of the series regulars would likely reprise their roles, including Sonia Mena as Pippa, Cat Missal as Bree, Spencer House as Wrigley, Branden Cook as Evan, and Alicia Crowder as Diana.
Don’t expect to see Tom Ellis back as Oliver. “I think Tom was just wanting to do one season. I think that we wrapped up his storyline in a way that really worked for me. I don’t know where else we would go after that with him,” showrunner Meaghan Oppenheimer told Variety. However, Oliver’s wife, Marienne (Gabriella Pession), might be back as there’s “a lot more story to tell with her.”
Oppenheimer, the show’s executive producer, will continue to helm the series as showrunner.
Will Leo come back in Season 3?
That remains to be seen. Leo (Thomas Doherty) was one of the new additions to Season 2, playing Lucy’s new love interest. After being taunted by Stephen all season, Leo finally hit his breaking point (literally) and pummeled Stephen at a party beatdown.
“Maybe Leo isn’t all that he seems. There is a lot to do with him,” Doherty told Us Weekly about his hopes for a third season.
What will happen in Season 3?
Tell Me Lies Season 2 ended with so many hanging threads. In the college era, Drew’s (Benjamin Wadsworth) return to Baird ended in tragedy. After a night out with Wrigley, Drew died in his sleep after mixing booze and drugs. Wrigley was left devastated by his little brother’s death.
“I actually don’t know what we’re going to do in Season 3 because it’s hard for three seasons to do a constant spiral,” House told TV Insider. “So hopefully there’s maybe an arc of hope a little bit on the guilt he carries and the depression he deals with and stuff.”
In the 2015 timeline, Stephen dropped the mother of all bombshells after hooking up with Lucy again. Years earlier, he had secretly recorded Evan confessing to his end-of-year drunken hookup with Lucy. He sent the audio to Bree just before she’s set to walk down the aisle.
“By the third season, we will still have some 2008 because there’s stuff that we have to wrap up there. But I think it would be a little bit shifted in the sense that there will probably be more 2015 than 2008,” Oppenheimer told Variety.
