‘When Calls the Heart’: Who Is Elizabeth Thornton’s Best Love Interest? (POLL)
When Calls the Heart has entertained plenty of romance over the last 11 seasons, with Elizabeth Thornton’s (Erin Krakow) heart at the center of it all — but who is her best match?
As she navigated a fresh start, she crossed paths with the dashing Jack Thornton (Daniel Lissing). They had a connection from the moment their eyes locked, Krakow and Lissing’s undeniable chemistry on full display.
After quite the slow burn, Elizabeth and Jack got married in Season 5. However, their happily ever after was short-lived. Jack was tragically killed in a landslide. Thankfully, Jack’s legacy will live on in their son, Jack Jr.
Elizabeth was, understandably, heartbroken over losing her great love. It took her time to heal, and she wasn’t ready for love again right away. Elizabeth was introduced to two new suitors in Season 6: Lucas Bouchard (Chris McNally) and Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry).
Elizabeth eventually opened her heart to Lucas, but they took things slow. Their relationship evolved into a healthy, loving partnership. However, there was always that lingering connection to Nathan, who’s always harbored feelings for Elizabeth.
Elizabeth and Lucas got engaged and planned to marry, but when Elizabeth looked ahead to her future, she didn’t want to leave Hope Valley. Nathan’s governorship would require him to be partially based in Capital City. She broke off their engagement, but they remained friends.
Like Jack and Elizabeth, Nathan’s relationship with Elizabeth has been the definition of a slow burn. In Season 11, their romance finally ignited. Elizabeth professed her love for Nathan, and they shared a passionate kiss in the penultimate episode. McGarry told us that the “ball has been in Elizabeth’s court for the last three seasons.”
