Teri Hatcher Teaches Us ‘How to Fall in Love By Christmas’ in Lifetime Holiday Rom-Com (VIDEO)
Find love by Christmas? In a holiday rom-com, that’s no problem! Teri Hatcher stars in Lifetime’s latest It’s a Wonderful Lifetime film, How to Fall in Love by Christmas, which premieres on December 8, Hatcher’s 60th birthday.
The Desperate Housewives alum plays Nora, a beloved writer-turned-CEO who must secure a partnership to save her company. The only way to do that is to write a column on falling in love by Christmas. (No pressure, huh?)
As she works on the piece, Nora finds herself connecting with the handsome photographer, Jack (Dan Payne), who has teamed up with her. Swooon spoke with Hatcher about how Nora’s journey is relatable for so many people yearning for connection.
“I think it exemplifies what people do in terms of they get in their habits of making work and other things than love their priority. I think that feels safe to [Nora],” Hatcher said. However, slowly but surely, Nora begins to realize that work doesn’t have to be her only priority. “I think what gets revealed is that you can open your heart and that you can be vulnerable and that you can potentially fall in love,” she added.
Hatcher reunites with Payne, whom she worked with on Christmas at the Chalet. “What was funny for Dan and I, specifically, is that we had done a movie together previously, where he played the ex-husband that I wanted nothing to do with, and then we ended up being cast together in this movie where he becomes the man that my character falls in love with. That was really fun for us off-camera because we just enjoy working together.”
In How to Fall in Love by Christmas, Nora and Jack don’t see eye-to-eye immediately. “It starts like many of these kind of romantic comedies do, which is you’re the most annoying person, and then it works itself out,” she quipped.
When it comes to falling in love in real life, the 59-year-old mused that it’s “maybe easier to fall in love when you’re younger.” At her age, the actress admitted that “you get everything the way you like it, you start to understand yourself, and how you want to spend your time, and who you want to be with, and what you enjoy, and what you personally need to be your best self and all of that.”
