Bridget Moynahan Reveals How ‘Sex and the City’ Fans Have Come Around to Natasha

Sex and the City tried to make Natasha (Bridget Moynahan) the villain when she debuted as Mr. Big’s (Chris Noth) fiancée after he returned from Paris. Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) pined for the man who never put her first and moved on the second he stepped off the island of Manhattan.

While Natasha was used as the (seemingly) only obstacle standing between Carrie and Big, she became one of the show’s biggest victims. She fell in love with a man she thought was the one, but he hurt her by cheating on her with Carrie, who was also cheating on Aidan.

Now, nearly 25 years after Natasha caught Carrie trying to sneak out of her apartment and subsequently fell and cracked her tooth in one of the most squirm-inducing scenes ever, Moynahan spoke with Swooon about how fan reaction to Natasha has changed over the decades.

“Over the years, people have found when they first saw it, they were hating on Natasha. And as they grew up, they’re like, ‘We were all Carrie at the time, but we should have been supporting Natasha,'” the actress said. “I think that’s just interesting that fans grew with the show and matured with the show. I think that’s what’s kind of so great about the show coming back in a new form is that they’ve matured, and now you have a whole new set of fans coming up, and it’s just nice to see how it keeps growing.”

After Natasha and Carrie’s final confrontation in Season 3, Natasha didn’t appear in the Sex and the City university until the first season of And Just Like That.

Following Big’s death, Carrie discovered that her husband left his ex-wife $1 million in his will. So, what does Moynahan think the former Mrs. Big did with the money?

“I don’t know. I suppose she probably put it towards the kids’ education,” Moynahan said.

Natasha deserved better, and thankfully, she escaped Big’s clutches. At least she got $1 million and whatever she rightfully received in the divorce.
