‘General Hospital’ Star Alexa Havins Bruening Reveals ‘Secret’ Fourth Child With Husband Justin
The Bruening family has expanded! In her first interview about her triumphant return to soaps as General Hospital‘s new Lulu Spencer, Alexa Havins Bruening opened up about her family life with her husband, Justin Bruening and dropped an exciting development!
The couple met and fell in love on the set of All My Children. Their characters, Babe Carey and Jamie Martin, also had an onscreen romance. They’ve been happily married since 2005, after the Sweet Magnolias actor popped the question on set.
“We have four [kids],” Havins Bruening told TV Insider. “We’ve got a secret baby. Our oldest daughter is 14, and then our son’s 11, and then we have two more girls, ages eight and four. And that was another factor. I think had it been a year or two ago, I would have had a toddler, and I probably would have said, ‘Thank you, but I don’t think I can.’ We involved the older ones and said, ‘Mom’s thinking about this. I just want you to know,’ and they were like, ‘We’re older now. We can be helpful.’ They were so sweet.”
This is the first mention of a fourth child for the couple. The Bruenings have kept their family out of the spotlight.
As she gets acclimated to Port Charles, her beloved husband is helping out at home. “Justin is home with the kids,” Havins Bruening said. “He is an amazing dad and husband. He’s on hiatus from Sweet Magnolias so it’s great.”
The actress is stepping into an iconic General Hospital role. She is honored to be a part of the legendary Spencer family. “To be able to be a piece of such a massively important family on the daytime canvas feels like an honor. I want to honor what Genie and Anthony built, to continue the story, and just give the audience what they’re wanting as far as Lulu goes,” the Daytime Emmy nominee noted.
