Get ready to play the game of love this holiday season. Hallmark Channel dropped the trailer for the highly-anticipated Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story on November 14. Let’s just say that Hallmark scored by casting Tyler Hynes and Hunter King in the lead roles.
Derrick (Hynes) is the Director of Fan Engagement for the Kansas City Chiefs and meets Alana Higman (King), whose family has a lifelong history of being Chiefs superfans. The Higman family is a frontrunner to win Fan of the Year, and Derrick is tasked with evaluating their love for all things Chiefs.
Alana’s crew is very superstitious about their beloved team, and they have a lucky hat to prove it. “We only get to the Super Bowl if someone in our family wears the hat on Christmas,” she tells Derrick. However, Derrick’s not so sure he believes in the magic.
It’s clear to pretty much everyone that sparks are flying between Alana and Derrick. “We can all see there’s something between you and Derrick. Why do you keep fighting it?” Alana’s mother (Megyn Price) asks.
King had a blast working alongside Hynes. The Countdown to Christmas movie marked their first-ever project together. “Tyler’s amazing, he’s a Hallmark Pro,” she told TV Insider. “He’s so easy to work with and just bounce ideas off of. I feel like we work really well together. Just all of our little ideas like, “Oh, we can add this little thing,” and a nudge here and a nudge there. So he’s amazing.”
