Erin Krakow Reveals ‘Full Circle’ Nod to ‘When Calls the Heart’ in ‘Santa Tell Me’
When Calls the Heart fans got the ultimate holiday treat with Erin Krakow and Daniel Lissing‘s long-awaited reunion in Hallmark’s Santa Tell Me. Six years after Lissing left When Calls the Heart, the two costars reunited for a new love story.
Even though Santa Tell Me takes place in the present day, Krakow revealed there was a nod to When Calls the Heart at the very end of the film when Olivia races to the train station to catch Chris before he leaves forever.
“What was fun about that particular sequence was it took place in this train station in downtown Vancouver, and that is a place where Dan and I shot back in Season 2 of When Calls the Heart. So, it was an interesting opportunity for a full circle moment for us. It was really nice to be back there,” Krakow revealed to Swooon.
Olivia declares her love for Chris in a magical scene at the train station. They share a romantic kiss as the snow falls around them. “It almost seems like it was a different level,” Krakow said of the ending scene. “It was just incredible production value. The cinematography, I thought, was really just delicious.”
It felt like no time had passed watching Krakow and Lissing share the screen again. Their electric chemistry was ever-present in their latest project. “It was a lot like riding a bike,” the actress said about reuniting with Lissing. “You remember how to do it. Obviously, there were things about our individual processes that have changed over the years, but it was really lovely to work together again and kind of easy to just fall into our old rhythm of working together.”
While Krakow is busy with When Calls the Heart, which will return for Season 12 in January 2025, she hasn’t closed the door on reuniting with Lissing again. “Who knows what the future holds?” she said about another project with the actor.
