Doctor Odyssey just went there.

Ryan Murphy had a twist up his sleeve, and it wasn’t the COVID fever dream. At the end of the November 7 episode, the three main characters had a threesome. For weeks, there had been speculation about whether the Doctor Odyssey throuple would actually happen — especially on broadcast TV — and now it’s a reality.

Here’s how it went down: Max (Joshua Jackson) caught Avery (Phillipa Soo) and Tristan (Sean Teale) raiding the ship’s kitchen late into the night. He kept their night going by asking them to write down five life goals that they would help each other achieve.

They grabbed a bottle of champagne and headed out to the pool. Tristan ran down his life goals and revealed that he wanted to fall in love and eventually have a family. He also mentioned he wanted to have a threesome. The trio eventually took their party to Max’s room, where they continued to talk about their bucket lists.

Tristan and Avery teased Max over his boring bucket list and urged him to put something fun on it — like a threesome. Max threw them for a loop when he revealed that he’d already had a threesome before. But it wasn’t that good because the other parties were more into each other, and he was mostly just observing.

Avery told Max to put “have a good threesome” on his bucket list instead. He quickly knocked off “learn French.” Max, Avery, and Tristan realized they all had a threesome on their list of goals to achieve, so they went all in. Tristan and Avery began making out on the couch while Max watched. Avery turned over to Max with eyes that screamed, “Join us.” He walked over to Avery and started kissing her with Tristan right there. Threesome, engaged!

Naturally, Doctor Odyssey fans sail-ebrated this exciting twist. See their reactions below.

Teale previously told TV Insider just how central the love triangle would be to the show. “Obviously at the root of this story is the three of us. And that’s never going to change…. The love triangle is a big part of the show, and that competition is gonna stay,” he said. Boy, did he mean it!

In the promo for next week’s episode, Avery tells the boys, “I know we said it was only going to be a one time thing, but…” We’re going to need to come up with a name for this throuple ASAP!
