‘The Golden Bachelorette’: Pascal Calls Out Chock’s ‘Bizarre Behavior’ Toward Joan

Pascal Ibgui might have left The Golden Bachelorette voluntarily, but he still had some strong words to share about fellow finalist Chock Chapple‘s behavior on the show.
In an interview with Glamour, Pascal opened up about his journey on the reality dating series and didn’t hold back about how he felt about Chock. Pascal stated that Chock acted like a “stalker” at times. He even commented further on the frontrunner’s behavior, including when he asked lead Joan Vassos, “What side of the bed do you sleep on?” Pascal called the question “inappropriate.”
Not mincing his words, Pascal wasn’t afraid to really call the Kansas insurance executive out. “I mean, it was like, ‘I love you, let’s leave. Let’s do this, let’s do that,'” he continued. “It’s bizarre behavior. I don’t know. ‘I can’t wait to be with you. I feel my love with you.’ Maybe in Wichita, there is no women. I don’t know.”
Pascal left The Golden Bachelorette after realizing his relationship with Joan wasn’t going to last forever. The Frenchman admitted that he had just gotten out of a long-term relationship before starting the show. Not truly being ready for the experience, he didn’t think he was going to get that far. When he did end up in the final three, the 69-year-old salon owner realized he wasn’t as interested in Joan as she was in him.
That’s when he told her, “I just don’t think I could get to the place you want me to be.” He added, “I’m having a very difficult time. I know what love is. I have experienced it. You have experienced it. I care about you as a friend, but I am not in love.”
However, looking back, he is still upset that the producers made him use the term “not in love.” He explained, “I know the words not in love is very hurtful. I would rather try to be very diplomatic. Unfortunately, she got hurt. I got hurt because emotionally that was very difficult for me, too.”
Since then, he has seen Joan again during the Men Tell All. Pascal is happy that both of them were able to get some “closure” and that he could emphasize, “I didn’t mean to hurt her, and I’m sorry if it comes across that way.”
The reason why he felt he had to share his true feelings with her in Tahiti was because “he didn’t want to stay because I know that the [other men were] so, so much in love with her. I didn’t want her to miss that opportunity to be loved, so that’s why I decided to walk away.”
Heading into the last episode of The Golden Bachelorette, Joan needs to make a decision between Chock and Guy Gansert.
