Exclusive Interview
Jonathan Bennett Teases Future of Hallmark’s ‘The Groomsmen’: Will There Be a Fourth Movie?
The Groomsmen trilogy has been a game-changer for Hallmark+. The three-part movie series, starring Jonathan Bennett, Tyler Hynes, and B.J. Britt, explores three love stories from the guys’ point of view. The movies focus on weddings, but will The Groomsmen: Last Dance be the final time we see Jackson, Danny, and Pete?
Could we eventually get Three Groomsmen and a Baby? “They did that on [Three] Wise Men,” Bennett told Swooon. “But we definitely are interested in exploring Pete, Danny, and Jackson’s story further because I think the audience is going to get so invested in these characters that it’s kind of like, ‘Well, what are the boys going to be up to next?'”
The Groomsmen: First Look kicked off the trilogy, followed by The Groomsmen: Second Chance. Last Dance, which centers around Jackson’s love story, takes place in Italy.
“It feels like my movie is a bit of a culmination,” Hynes revealed. “We have these characters that we meet, we have these different love stories we’ve seen and helped each other through as friends and brothers. And then I’m sort of the last man standing in terms of that.”
Hallmark had great success with its Wedding Veil trilogy, which starred Lacey Chabert, Alison Sweeney, and Autumn Reeser. Bennett was inspired to create The Groomsmen after being in “so many of my friends’ weddings as a groomsman, and I had so many of my best friends in my wedding as groomsmen.”
Once you’ve watched all three Groomsmen movies, stay tuned for more movies this fall and winter with the leads. Hynes is starring in two Countdown to Christmas movies this year, Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story and Three Wiser Men and a Boy. Bennett will star in Season’s Greetings From Cherry Lane and host Finding Mr. Christmas.
