Kelsey Anderson Explains Her Reaction to Joey Graziadei’s ‘DWTS’ Performance & Slams Rumors
The internet is once again questioning the relationship between The Bachelor Season 28 lead Joey Graziadei and fiancée Kelsey Anderson. Joey, who is currently competing on Dancing with the Stars, dedicated his October 15 performance to his loving partner. That’s when fans started noticing something unusual.
Kelsey was sitting in the audience supporting Joey like always, but apparently, her facial expressions sparked questions as a TikTok user claimed, “Something was off there with Joey and Kelsey,” in a video. This irked the woman who publicly vied for the former tennis instructor’s heart.
That’s why Kelsey also took to the social media app to set the record straight. “I still feel like I’m very new to having a relationship in the public eye and, you know, sometimes it stinks whenever people want to pick it apart, but I am thankful for all of the great things it’s brought me, like Joey, and the amazing opportunities that we’ve been able to share together,” she began.

The 26-year-old was adamant that she didn’t want anyone to send hate to the original person who brought up her concern. This has, however, not been the first time in recent months that people have speculated about her romance with Joey.
Ever since Joey joined DWTS, the couple has been thrust back into the public eye. The world saw their connection grow on The Bachelor earlier this year. Because of the duo’s reality TV roots, they have dealt with fans raising concerns over Joey and dance pro Jenna Johnson‘s chemistry, even though she’s happily married.
In her video, Kelsey clarified why she didn’t look as excited when the camera panned to her in the audience. She has been in the audience since Joey’s start on the show to support her beau, yet this week was a little different. Deeply touched by her significant other’s romantic display, Kelsey had also been battling many conflicting emotions.
While she was reflecting on the show’s Dedication Night, Kelsey noted that several of the performers, including Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin‘s Chandler Kinney had paid tribute to “people who made a big impact in their life.” This also meant lost loved ones.
“There was a couple moms as well,” Kelsey said. “So it was a hard night for me seeing as I have lost my mom six years ago to breast cancer.”
Thinking of her mother, Kelsey opened up during her time on The Bachelor that her mom, Denise Anderson, died in 2018. “I really resonated with a lot of these stories of having amazing moms and all of these things and it, yeah, struck a nerve for me, so I was a little emotional last night,” she continued in the clip. “So I guess she was right [by saying] something’s not right. Yeah, I was missing my mom a little extra.”
With tears in her eyes, Kelsey expressed, “Joey’s dance was so beautiful, and it meant a lot to me and it did make me emotional because he dedicated it to me, so I wasn’t grinning ear to ear,” she said. “I also get a lot of anxiety before Joey’s dances, sometimes I get a little light-headed during them.”
Wrapping up the video, she made a closing remark, “Just, you know, was in my feelings a little bit with how special it was and also, you know, missing my mom,” she said. “I think that maybe we should just focus more on positives and not always assume the worst of things. But yeah, that’s all.”
