Kim Matula is having a breakout moment playing Jane Curtin in the highly anticipated SNL movie Saturday Night. Before she helped recreate Studio 8H in the ’70s, she rose to fame playing Hope Logan on The Bold and the Beautiful from 2010 to 2016. Matula stopped by the Swooon offices and looked back at her run on the long-running soap — and Hope’s romantic relationships.

“I do view them as a supercouple for sure,” she said about the on-again, off-again couple. “Hope and Liam [Scott Clifton] had so many fans. So many people really stan Hope and Liam.”

She added, “I think Hope and Liam are a supercouple like Brooke [Katherine Kelly Lang] and Ridge [Thorsten Kaye]. She followed in her mother’s footsteps and found her own supercouple to be a part of.”

When recalling Hope’s highs and lows during her time on the show, Matula said she was “really excited when Hope finally let go of the whole virginity trope that she held onto and finally started just living her life and having fun. So, like, when Wyatt [Darin Brooks] entered the picture, I got to do a love triangle with Liam and Wyatt. That was really fun. It didn’t have to be Hope, Liam, and Steffy [Jaqueline MacInnes Wood] anymore. There got to be another guy involved, but I think that just shook things up. That was really fun.”

Swooon asked Matula if she’s Team Liam or Team Wyatt. “I was going to say Team Wyatt, but then I’m like, he literally kissed an unconscious girl on the ground, and that’s not cool. And Liam is so wishy-washy, but they’re all wishy-washy. I can’t pick a team, honestly.”

The actress played Hope for six years before exiting the show. She noted that B&B was the “second big job” she booked after moving to Los Angeles. “That was a great training ground for me. It just taught me how to be a professional on set, what lighting is, where my mark is, where the camera is, and how to cry on cue,” she told Swooon.
