Samantha Jones made a surprise appearance (sort of) during the June 26 episode of And Just Like That to give Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) some advice about a new man in her life. Carrie met the guy, Duncan Reeves (Jonathan Cake), who lives in the bottom-floor apartment of her townhouse, after he complained about her walking all over her place in heels.

When Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) spotted him, she fangirled out. Duncan’s a famous biographer, so now there are technically two writers living under the same roof. After quite literally tiptoeing around her house so she wouldn’t disturb him, Carrie went searching for more information about the grumpy Londoner and went straight to the one person she knew would have answers: Samantha.

Carrie asked Samantha what she knew about Duncan. “They say he’s a lot of fun,” Samantha replied. Carried added that Duncan’s now living “under” her, which prompted Samantha’s cheeky response, “I wish he was under me.”

That’s where their conversation ended for now, but Carrie and Samantha have been texting each other. Apparently, Carrie previously had something delivered to Samantha in London and wanted to keep it a secret. Another time, Samantha missed Carrie’s call.

Kim Cattrall didn’t make a physical appearance on the show, but And Just Like That is clearly trying to keep the fan-favorite character involved. Cattrall’s only made one official cameo on the spinoff series in the Season 2 finale. (Cattrall and Parker famously filmed their shared scene separately.)

“In our minds, Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte are always texting Samantha, even though the herculean task of actually getting Samantha to appear can only happen every now and then,” executive producer Michael Patrick King told Cosmopolitan. “This was born out of story. We had a man from London move in underneath Carrie. How can you not draw a direct line from Man From London to Samantha, who’s in London? She will know him. And so that’s what Carrie would naturally do.”

Carrie’s still got a confusing situation going on with Aidan (John Corbett), but it’s evident that she and her downstairs neighbor have something brewing between them. They went to dinner together, where they opened up to each other about their writing journeys and trying something new. While Carrie was determined to put her “right to shoe” at first, by the end of the episode, she took her heels off to give Duncan some peace and quiet.
