What Happened to ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Couple Emma Slater & Sasha Farber? Their Relationship Now
It was a moment that will go down in Dancing With the Stars history. Sasha Farber and Emma Slater performed a dance together, and it concluded with him getting down on one knee and asking her to marry him. She accepted the proposal, and they set out to begin their life together.
The professional dancers had previously dated from 2011 to 2014 before taking a break and eventually reconciling by the end of 2015. Farber’s proposal took place in October 2016 during a live DWTS taping, and he and Slater went on to tie the knot in March 2018.

Why did Emma Slater and Sasha Farber split?
Slater and Farber separated in August 2022 after less than four years of marriage. However, Slater didn’t file for divorce until February 2023. Six months later, she opened up about her decision on The Viall Files podcast and explained that she and Farber split because they had different timelines in mind for having kids.
“It’s really the kid thing,” Slater admitted. “It’s interesting because I do want to have kids, I just don’t want to delay Sasha’s path in having kids because I know that he is ready for that. I don’t want to talk about him too much because that’s really for him to say, but it’s about kids.”
She reiterated that she “wants kids” someday but knew she wasn’t ready yet. “I don’t know what it is, I’m just figuring that out for myself,” Slater continued. “It’s not something I take lightly, and I don’t want to enter into something that I’m not sure about because I would never do that.”
Slater wasn’t afraid to put the blame on herself, insisting that “it had nothing to do with” her husband. “He’s always been very much himself,” she shared. “It’s me that’s found it difficult to understand why I’m feeling different.”
Slater froze her eggs following her separation from Farber. The divorce was finalized in May 2024.
Are Emma Slater and Sasha Farber still friends?
Yes, Slater and Farber remain amicable. In fact, they’ve continued to work closely together on Dancing With the Stars. Not only do they still perform together on the show, but they’ve also both been part of the DWTS live tour since their split.
“We’re still like family,” Slater insisted. “It isn’t really like the love is not there. It’s actually not that at all.”
In a 2024 interview with Us Weekly, she added, “We really are close friends. He’s somebody who’s in my life forever. It’s a true genuine connection, and he’s the best person, just absolutely amazing. We just get on really, really well.”
Is Emma Slater dating Alan Bersten?
Following her split from Farber, Slater moved on with another Dancing With the Stars pro, Alan Bersten. After it was reported in 2024 that they were “hooking up,” the two seemingly confirmed the romance by kissing on stage at the Dancing With the Stars tour in April.
“[We’re] just enjoying life together,” he later told E! “No pressure there, but we’re just enjoying it.” He also noted that he and Slater are “both professionals” and said they plan to “keep it professional” as they continue working together.

In mid-May 2025, Bersten ran the RBC Brooklyn Half marathon, and Slater was there cheering him on. They then spent the next few days in the Big Apple together where they attended a Broadway show and were spotted out having a romantic dinner.
Are Sasha Farber and Jenn Tran dating?
Meanwhile, Farber was partnered with The Bachelorette alum Jenn Tran for Season 33 of Dancing With the Stars in 2024, and they began sparking romance rumors a few weeks into the competition.
Farber and Tran played coy about their official relationship status throughout their time on the show and in the weeks that followed, but she was living in his house for several months after DWTS ended. They eventually hard-launched the romance on social media for Valentine’s Day.

Tran moved back to Miami to continue physician’s assistant school in the spring, but she and Farber have still made time to see each other amid her busy schedule. “We are taking life one day at a time and we’re not in any rush to define anything or put anything out there,” Tran said in February 2025. “We are just having fun and enjoying the moment that we’re in.”
Although the DWTS Season 34 cast has not been confirmed yet, fans are expecting Farber, Bersten, and Slater to all return as pros.
